Year 3 - Mexico
Welcome to Mexico class. Mrs Taylor is our teacher. Mrs Wilson and Mrs Wade are our teaching assistants.
In Year 3 we have had an incredibly busy scientific week!
Plants and water
We have been investigating what plants need to survive and placed seeds in different conditions testing water, nutrients and light. We have planted our own sunflower seeds, and we have also investigated why water is so important for life by becoming ‘Water Warriors’.
We have looked at what happens to water once a plant has absorbed it through the roots, and found that by dyeing the water, we can see how the water moves inside the plants (we used celery, and it worked – black or red celery, anyone?).
If that wasn’t enough, we have also been to space for the morning. We became astronauts and had a very inspiring and inquisitive time inside a visiting planetarium. We went to our sun, the Orion nebula and visited Pleides, Betelgeuse, Mars and Jupiter. We saw the Milky Way and found out that there are over 100 billion galaxies in the universe! The adults were very impressed with the children’s brilliant questions, and by their behaviour.
