Year 5 - Spain
Welcome to Spain class. We are in Year 5 and our teacher is Miss Walker. Miss Adcock is our Teaching Assistant.
This term, we are enjoying having Mrs Mooney coming in to help improve our skills in gymnastics. We have been practising different shapes and interesting ways of travelling and we have put these into sequences. Here are some of us doing the warm-up and practising our routines. (Photos by Evie.)
We have had a really fun start to this year as we have been doing lots of DT! We have finished off last term’s Stone Age to Iron Age topic by designing and making a range of objects including Stone Age tools and jewellery and Iron Age brooches. The children gathered the materials they needed from the school field and quiet garden and we also used clay and model-magic to act as different types of stones or bones! Their finished products look great.
Thank you to all of the lovely parents and grandparents who came to join us at our Reading Café last week. We had a really fun morning: reading poems by A. A. Milne, making crowns and writing our own poems. Everyone looked very regal as they walked home at the end of the day!
We were so lucky to have the brilliant Munch Bunch team with us this week for a Spanish food session. We had a lot of fun in the classroom learning some Spanish words and tasting different foods including olives, chorizo, quince and more. We also used the kitchen area in Pioneers and learned to make patatas bravas! We all had a fantastic time – thank you very much to our lovely Munch Bunch helpers!
Gressenhall Trip 7th November 2018
Year 5 had a fantastic trip to Gressenhall last week where they enjoyed a Stone Age day – learning all about life in the Neolithic Era. They took part in activities such as grinding wheat to make flour, making shelters and throwing spears to practise their hunting skills! It was a brilliant day!
