World Book Day

We have enjoyed World Book Day activities this week, including a West End in Schools dance workshop where we told the story of Pinocchio. The children were excited to dress up on Thursday and chat about their favourite books and characters.

World Book Day Dance Workshop

Today, we were lucky enough to have the West End Dance Company in to do a World Book Day themed dance workshop. They retold the story of Pinocchio and added a sequence of movements to go alongside this story. We got to come up with our own freeze frames as well as learning a short dance which we incorporated our freeze frames into. We enjoyed working as a whole class, in pairs and small groups. Everyone was so engaged, and our final performance was brilliant! We all left the hall with a huge smile on our faces.

Denmark Class Healthy Eating

In science today we learnt about how to stay healthy and how we need water, exercise, a balanced diet and good hygiene to remain healthy.

We talked about foods having different jobs and that some foods help us with our health, some foods give us energy and other foods help us grow. We sorted a selection of different foods into these three groups and then planned our own balanced snack using at least one food from each group. Once the children had planned their snack they demonstrated good hygiene by washing their hands and then prepared and ate their snacks.

Rainy Day

There has been so much rain this week and it has made our outdoor classroom very slippery. We didn’t want to be stuck indoors any more so we got our waterproofs and wellies on and went out to splash in the playground puddles. It was so much fun!

Creating Media – Animations

This week, Year 3 have been learning about how animations are made from a sequence of pictures or images. They made flick books to animate a sequence of picture of their own and self-assessed how successful they were. Today, they had lots of fun making their own stop-motion animations using their whiteboards and iPads. There was lots of impressive creativity on show and we enjoyed sharing them as a class.

Year 2 – History

Martha, one of Kett’s rebels, joined us today. She told us all about life during the Tudor period and what happened during Robert Kett’s rebellion.
