This week is maths week England and we’ve had a fantastic maths day in school! You may not realise, but you use maths in everyday life without thinking: telling the time, cooking, measuring distances and lots of jobs use maths too. In school we have learned about some influential mathematicians, their achievements and the barriers they have overcome: Benjamin Banneker, Alan Turing, Nira Chamberlain, Ada Lovelace, Marjorie Lee Browne and Katherine Johnson. The children were excited to be reminded of the practical real life purposes of maths.
The children have enjoyed activities across the curriculum themed around number 3 and triangles as well as other maths challenges including online quizzes. There has been house building for Three Little Pigs, Singing the Goldilocks rhyme and porridge making, collage, printing, competitions, problem-solving, times tables flowers and so much more. We love maths!
