In our English lessons we have just started to read ‘Handa’s Surprise’, a story about a little girl who takes a selection of fruit to her friend as a surprise.
Today we had the chance to sample some different fruit and the children were really enthusiastic to try something new. In Handa’s Surprise the author used some great adjectives to describe the fruit and we used our senses of sight, touch, taste and smell to come up with our own adjectives. The children explored and tasted pineapple, mango, kiwi, banana, orange and avocado and used great adjectives such as “juicy”, “bumpy”, “hairy”, “spiky” and “sour” to describe them.
