Year 1 are learning about subtraction.  One of our stem sentences is “a whole minus a part is equal to a part.” We are now ready to build upon our knowledge of fact families to find all eight facts in a fact family.  We are also still remembering to use our number bonds to find parts.

Today we did a practical lesson with chocolate buttons.  We identified the whole number and the parts.  We discussed what happened when we ate a chocolate using our story words “First..Then..Now”.  Finally, we wrote our number sentences.
