It was a really nice last few weeks in Spain Class. We were busy finishing stories and all contributed to our class book, “The Day The Objects Quit”. In Maths we have been learning about measuring capacity and mass and made some Frobscottle potions by measuring out the ingredients. It appears from the photos below that the “Funny” and “Sleeping” potions worked!
The children loved the art videos by author and illustrator, Rob Biddulph (Draw With Rob). His videos were enjoyed by all the children through lockdown, so we drew along to Rob creating a Kindness Monster. The results, as you can see in the photo below, were fantastic!
I think the children have really enjoyed learning about the Ancient Egyptians this term and shown fantastic enthusiasm and engagement throughout. We had great fun making our Canopic Jars (where the Egyptians kept a Pharaoh’s organs after being embalmed), and the children learnt a new skill – papier-mâché. Some enjoyed the process more than others (“Yuck!” was the word of the day when we did it), but they all did a great job transforming their yoghurt pots and clay balls into Ancient Egyptian artefacts.
Finally, we had our sports day. It was a great day and the children all put maximum effort in throughout. There was great perseverance and sportsmanship on show throughout, and the only thing that was missing was the parents to cheer them on.
And now, to a well-earned holiday. It’s been a great 2 years together!
