This week, the Year 4 children were lucky enough to take part in an Arts in the Environment workshop with Bel Greenwood who runs our Creative Writing club at Browick. The class visited the wildlife garden and completed activities including:
If you could be a bird which kind of bird would you be?
Treasure hunt of native birds in the wildlife garden. Identifying birds and plants.
Listening to THE STORY OF THE MIRACLE EGG.
Discussing and writing ideas about how a bird might feel.
Mapping the garden with bird words – imagining seeing the garden from a bird’s eye view. You are crossing it, either hopping about or swooping through the trees. What do you feel and think? Writing in the voice of a bird.
Using stones to make spirals of words -poems for the sky to read.
Everyone had a sunflower seed to take home and look after.
The children had lots of fun.
Thank you, Bel!
