To celebrate the fact we are called ‘Denmark Class’, we spent the first day back of term learning all about Denmark. We discovered that Denmark has over 400 islands and to say hello, you say “Hej”! We learnt about the flag and created some beautiful bunting for our classroom, as well as making the flag out of Lego…Lego was first created in Denmark after all! We played a version of the medieval Danish game called ‘Barrel Cat’ and named the rescued cats using traditional Viking names. We ended the day listening to the traditional story ‘The Ugly Duckling’ by the Danish author Hans Christian Anderson.
