At Browick Road, we aim to be successful in supporting active travel to school, which includes cycling, walking and other forms of active travel. We are working to develop and deliver a Modeshift STARS accredited school travel plan with the help of our School Council and other children in the school.
We currently have a ‘Good’ level Modeshift STARS accreditation – see below for more information about how we achieved this!
Being more active for the school journey is a great way to keep us fit and healthy, teaches independence and road safety, and reduces air pollution, carbon emissions and congestion on the roads.
We hope that parents and carers can support us to encourage active and sustainable travel to school by motivating children to walk, cycle or scoot as often as possible, and to take part in activities we offer to improve road safety awareness and riding skills.
When travelling to school please:
- Walk, scoot or cycle to school as much as possible
- Be kind and courteous to others – say hi, be nice!
- Give way to pedestrians
- Consider wearing high-visibility/reflective clothing and use bicycle lights when dark
- Follow the Highway Code.
If driving, please park away from the school entrance and walk the rest of the way!
It is not acceptable to park or wait on double yellow lines, on the school zigzags or across residential driveways for any period of time.
