Children arrive at Nursery at 8:45am. They are welcomed by staff, and helped to put away their coats and bags. After registration and a short carpet session, free flow play and exploration takes place, inside and out. 1:1 or small group work will be led by adults during this time. At 10am we stop for snack, and the children sit down together for a piece of fruit and a drink of milk or water. When everyone has finished, it will be time to play and learn again until 11:35, when we all tidy up and get ready to go home or have lunch. At 11:45, the children who are going home are taken to the gate for collection, whilst those staying for lunch are taken to the hall, where they sit together with their MSAs to eat a delicious hot lunch or their packed lunch from home. The children return to Nursery by 12:15, for a bit of quiet time before more play and exploration during the afternoon. Some afternoons will include an excursion to the Reception classroom or garden to take part in small group activities led by one of the EYFS staff. This is an excellent way to support transition to Reception for our older children. At 3pm we tidy up, ready for collection at 3:15pm. There are multiple story times throughout the Nursery day, when children will be read to individually, in small groups, or as a whole class.
