When your child is in the autumn term of their pre-school year (the academic year in which they will turn 4), you will receive a letter with information regarding school applications. Most primary schools hold Open Days for prospective parents/carers during this term, so look out for information on their websites. It is important that you visit the schools you are interested in so that you can make a decision regarding which will be best for your child. Once you have decided, you can apply for a school place online, putting schools in order of preference.
