8:35am | Our day begins. Children come into school and are greeted by Reception staff. They will be encouraged to put away their belongings independently whilst staff work with groups of children to practise writing their names and make their lunch choices. |
8:45am | ‘Good morning’ and registration on the carpet. |
8:50 – 9:30am | Phonics teaching in small groups. |
9:30 – 10:30am | ‘Free-flow’ continuous provision. The children are free to follow their own interests, indoors or outside, with adults joining in with their play. There will be some planned ‘adult-led’ activities taking place which relate to the story we are basing the week’s learning on, and all children will be encouraged to take part in these at some point. |
10:30am | Snack time. The children sit down together for a fruit or vegetable snack and a drink of milk or water. |
10:45am | Whole-class maths teaching on the carpet. |
11.00 – 11:50am | ‘Free-flow’ continuous provision. |
12.00 – 1.00pm | Lunch in the school hall followed by outdoor play. |
1.00pm | Registration on the carpet, followed by whole-class carpet session. This will be literacy-based but may also encompass other areas of the curriculum. |
1:40 – 2:45pm | ‘Free-flow’ continuous provision. |
2:45pm | ‘PATHS’ person – a chance to celebrate what’s special about one of the children every day! |
2:55pm | Class story time. |
3:15pm | Home time. |
