What a wonderful start we have all had to Year 1! We have been so impressed by the children’s excellent behaviour, positive attitudes and enthusiasm for learning. They have settled into their new routines beautifully and are already showing us what fantastic learners they can be.
In our Maths focus lessons, we have been exploring how we can sort and group objects by carefully considering their characteristics. We have worked with a range of objects, including cubes, plastic teddies and vehicles, and thought carefully about the different ways we could organise them. We sorted objects by colour, type and size, as well as coming up with our own creative ways to group them.
These activities have helped us to develop our observation, reasoning and classification skills, while encouraging us to explain our thinking and listen to the ideas of others.
We are incredibly proud of the way the children have begun their Year 1 journey and are looking forward to all the exciting learning ahead!
