In Denmark Class, we have been learning about the seasons. Today we went on a science hunt to find signs of Autumn. The children were very observant and spotted lots of different signs, including colourful leaves, seeds, fungi and berries.

In Science, we had some fun on experimenting on how long it takes a solute and a solvent to mix together to make a solution. It came out to be really fun.
In PE, we are starting a rugby unit. In these lessons we have had a lot of fun playing games of tag rugby. In the pictures, you can see some students are playing a friendly game.
In art, we learnt about Friedensreich Hundertwasser. He was born in 1925. While he was alive he did some amazing drawings that we did. One thing we found is that he doesn’t like using a ruler! We copied the picture with the view finders we made ourselves. And today, we enlarged and painted our abstract Hundertwasser inspired pictures.

Felbrigg have really enjoyed their block of Forest Schools sessions with Jules this half term. They’ve been doing all sorts of crafts, exploring and playing, and even made their own fires! A huge thanks to Jules for the lovely sessions – Sandringham are next!

Year 6 had a lovely visit from Greening Wymondham today – each child was gifted a tree to take home and plant somewhere. The team were really helpful and told us all lots of great facts about the importance of trees and all of the work that they do in our community. The class enjoyed being able to select their own tree and were very excited to plant them.
Our story will be: We’re Going on a Bear Hunt
Our rhyme of the week will be: Mary, Mary
Our number work will focus on: Hearing and saying number names in order
We will also be: enjoying foil painting process art, making ‘bear hunt’ story maps, exploring sound effects and sensory play and having an adventure in Forest School!
In Year 1, the children are learning about the technology around us and how it helps us. The children classified what is and what is not technology in our classroom. They are becoming familiar with the different components of a computer by developing their keyboard skills. Initially, they applied our learning to the ‘click and drag’ function.
The children are also learning about online safety and what to do if they see anything that makes them feel uncomfortable.

The children used ncce.io/drag.
As part of our RE unit, we have been exploring the big question: “Why is light an important symbol?” To help us think about this, we made our own Christingles.
A Christingle is a special symbol used by Christians at Christmas time. It helps people remember that Jesus is the light of the world. Each part of the Christingle has a special meaning:
We really enjoyed making our Christingles and thinking about what each part means. At home the children could lit their candles and talk about how light can make us feel safe, warm, and hopeful.

Our story will be: The Same but Different Too
Our rhyme of the week will be: Incey Wincey Spider
Our maths work will focus on: Exploring patternWe will also be: painting our self-portraits, learning about how we’ve changed since we were babies, finding out about opposites and tapping out rhythms using claves
We have been learning about human and physical features in Geography. We loved looking at ordnance survey maps, learning what some of the symbols mean and comparing the features of different locations.
We have been learning about computer systems and the use of IT around us. We enjoyed learning about the use of barcodes when shopping! We practised buying items, finding their code, checking the price of the item and adding them up. We decided that a computer system would make this process much quicker and simpler!
