We had a fantastic time visiting Fairland Church to help us answer our big question ‘How do Christians belong to their faith family?’ Reverend Wilson talked to us about the different parts of a baptism and even pretended to perform one on a doll. She talked to us about why Christians get baptised and the importance of the ceremony. We were also able to look around the church and examine the items involved more closely. We had so many thoughtful questions, showing our deep thinking, which Reverend Wilson was very impressed with. We really enjoyed our visit.

West Stow
On February 10th, Year 4 had a fantastic day visiting West Stow, the Anglo-Saxon village! We left school at around 9am and had a brilliant coach journey all the way to Suffolk.
To begin with, the children enjoyed sitting together with one of the school adults exploring artefacts related to the Anglo-Saxons! Each group got to handle the objects, guess what they were and what they were used for. There were actual artefacts found at West Stow alongside replicas and they ranged from part of an animal skull to a beautiful brooch for a cloak!
Then, the children had an opportunity to explore the museum! There were lots of glass cases full of other artefacts, interactive displays and dressing up clothes!
This took the morning session and then we have an opportunity to eat our lunch together in a lovely covered area and have a good chat about our morning so far!
In the afternoon, we had an opportunity to look at the Anglo-Saxon village itself. This reconstruction sits exactly where the original village sat and the buildings are all built as they would have been. Each one has information about it and interesting objects inside. The children really enjoyed seeing these buildings in real life!
The children were exquisitely behaved and really made all of the adults exceptionally proud! Not only that, they had a great time and really enjoyed immersing themselves in the history of the Anglo-Saxons!
Well done, Year 4!
Pen Licences!
This term, we will be starting to hand out pen licences to children who have really worked hard on their handwriting! They will get a lovely certificate to bring home, along with a voucher from Stabilo for 10% off a Stabilo EASYoriginal pen!
Year 4 have been exploring how letters and words are formed since the beginning of the year and their efforts are paying off in their writing across the curriculum!
Well done, Year 4!

Challah Bread
In RE, Denmark Class have been learning about the Jewish celebration of Shabbat. The children were fascinated to find out how Jewish people maintain a day of rest each week and all of the things that can and cannot be done during Shabbat. To end our learning, we baked our own Challah bread to share together.
Classroom Olympics
As part of our topic on Ancient Greece, we did a little Classroom Olympics which involved: plate discus, paper straw javelin, bean bag long jump & horse chariot (mini toy cars). Did you know that in the Ancient Olympics they used weights to propel themselves in the long jump?
BONUS: Dress as your emotion day
Last week was Children’s Mental Health Week and the theme was belonging so we made a map of where we belonged and what makes us happy.

Spring One in Year 6
We are halfway through Year 6! Here are a selection of photos from the last few weeks. These include: creating our own artwork to show different emotions, using mixed media; learning gymnastics shapes and sequences with Mrs Mooney; fun extra-curricular PE days doing karate and a sponsored bounce; and doing some great written work about the heart after a dissection lesson – including some fantastic pencil sketches.
The class have been working really hard this half term – and we’re very much looking forward to the residential next half term!
Have a great week everyone!

Science – Heart Dissection!
The class had a brilliant Science lesson this week. Dr Clare, a local GP, came in to do a dissection of a pig’s heart for us! We used the desk camera to show the details of each part of the heart on the board, while matching them up with the diagrams that we had used in our previous learning. Seeing a real example really helped to bring our learning to life, and the children were amazed at being able to see the different veins, arteries and chambers, and imagine how the blood flows through them. Whilst there were several shocked faces at first (see picture!), it was a fantastic session and every single child came up to touch it at the end – with gloves of course! One of the girls asked if we can do a brain dissection next… but we’ll stick with the heart for now!
Year 2 Gymnastics
We LOVED using the equipment in PE during our gymnastics learning! Over the last few weeks, we have practised travelling in different ways and learnt to hold a balance in different gymnastics shapes. We began by learning how to do these on the floor, then progressed to low equipment and finally to the wall bars! Hooray!
